Cassandra Elizabeth Austen fue una mujer inglesa, nacida en Steventon, Hampshire, en 1773, y fallecida en 1845. Era la hermana mayor de la novelista Jane Austen y su más cercana confidente.
Compartieron gran parte de su vida, y la correspondencia entre ambas constituye una fuente esencial para comprender la vida cotidiana y el proceso creativo de Jane Austen.
Cassandra fue conocida por su carácter reservado y su dedicación a la familia; nunca se casó. Después de la muerte de su hermana, conservó y organizó sus cartas y manuscritos, desempeñando un papel fundamental en la preservación de su legado literario.
